D-visaThere is also a possibility to be granted a national visa for a longer period than 90 days, a so called D-visa, if there are special reasons. The D-visa may be granted for stays exceeding 90 days during six months if there are special circumstances. A D-visa may be granted for a maximum stay in Sweden of one year and may be valid for one or multiple entries. Please note that a D-visa is a national visa and valid only for stay in Sweden. If you intend to travel through other countries to/from Sweden with a D-visa you should contact the countries you intend to travel through to get information if you need an additional permit. Special circumstances may for instance be parents who visit their children in Sweden and need to stay for a longer consecutive period. The purpose of the stay can only be to visit.
