Visiting Visa

Sweden is a member of Schengen. The embassy of Sweden in Riyadh handles Schengen visa applications for Sweden and - on behalf of the Finnish Embassy - for Finland (Nordic Visa Cooperation).

A valid visa issued by any other Schengen-member state can thus be used for travel to Sweden/Finland and vice-versa.

Visa applicants having Sweden or Finland as first and main destination on their itinerary are eligible to apply for a Schengen visiting visa at the Swedish Embassy in Riyadh.

The Embassy of Sweden in Riyadh needs up to 10 days to process a visa. Please, note that your Schengen entry visa must be entered in your passport before your arrival in Sweden.
Requirements for a Schengen visit visa:

• The visa is personal and the application must therefore be handed in to the Embassy Visa Section in person by the applicant.

• The Schengen visa fee must be paid to the Embassy bank account before applying for a visa. Please, see under “Application fee for Visiting Visa”.

• Passport validity – minimum 3 months from the expiry date of the visa.

• When applying for a visa, you must submit all of the following documents. Please, note that all documents are required at the same time, or you’re the processing of your application will be dealayed:

- For applicants intending to visit family/friends living in Sweden, please also fill in Appendix D: Family Appendix for Applicants (available electronically in right column)
- For applicants travelling for medical treatment, please also fill in Appendix C (available electronically in right column). In addition a confirmed appointment by the Swedish doctor should be presented to the Embassy Visa Section.

• All applicants will be photographed in the Visa Section photo-station. In addition two [2] photographs of passport style and size [35 x 45 mm] are requested for all applicants, including minors. Please bring the two photos together with your duly completed application and other required documents.
 Your photographs must be:
 – recent and of true likeness
 – showing full face
 – head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even  then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
 – taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.

Photographs that do not conform to these standards will be rejected and may cause delay in processing the visa application.

• All applicants should be prepared to provide proof of destination/purpose of the visit, for example hotel reservation, flight booking. Sweden/Finland must be a main destination, for an applicant to be eligible to apply at the Swedish Embassy.

• All applicants should be prepared to provide evidence of occupation/student status if applicable.

• All applicants should be prepared to provide evidence that they have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay.

• Please, note that all documents must be submitted in English language.

• Please, note that a valid, personal travel and medical insurance which covers costs for
– emergency treatment by a doctor
– urgent ambulance transportation
– transportation back to applicant's home country if required for medical reasons.
is strictly required for any applicant for a Schengen visa.

PLEASE NOTE: The insurance must cover at least 30,000 Euro and be valid in all Schengen states and cover the total length of the stay. If the insurance is valid shorter time than the visa requested, the total stay allowed will be reduced accordingly.

• A Schengen visa does not automatically entitle the holder to enter the Schengen area. A new examination of the visitor’s right to enter the Schengen will be made by the national authorities of each Schengen state

• Parental consent is required for minors applying for a visa.
