Consular services for Swedish citizens
Consular matters which have earlier been handled by the Embassy are no longer the responsibility of the Section for Development  Cooperation. However, during a transition period some consular services for Swedish citizens will be handled by the Section (see further information below). The possibility of establishing an Honorary Consulate in Laos is currently being explored.

Passports for Swedish citizens
Passport matters for Swedish citizens are handled by the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok. Provisional passports can be issued by the Section for Development Cooperation until an honorary consulate is established.

Consular services for Nordic and Irish citizens
The Embassy of Sweden in Vientiane used to assist citizens from other Nordic countries and Ireland in consular matters. Decision regarding representation in Laos for these countries are awaiting confirmation. Hence, these citizens are now requested to contact their respective Embassy in Bangkok, Hanoi or Beijing for information about procedures for consular assistance.
 
Visa Applications for visits to Sweden
Visa applications to Sweden will, until further notice, be handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok. In the future, such matters will possibly be handled by another European Embassy in Vientiane. Such a decision is awaiting confirmation.

Visa applications for visits to Denmark, Norway and Iceland
Visa applications for visits to Denmark, Norway and Iceland are referred to respective Embassy in Hanoi or Beijing.

Residence and Work Permits
Matters related to residence and work permits for Sweden are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok.
