Swedish MENA Research Links: Programme for the Promotion of Inter-Regional Research Co-operation

The Swedish Institute in Alexandria, the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (Sida) are sponsoring a programme for the promotion of inter-regional research co-operation.

The main objective of the Swedish Research Links Programme is to encourage research cooperation between researchers in Sweden , on the one hand, and in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), South Africa, Botswana and Namibia on the other.

The long-term goal is to contribute to mutual scientific and socioeconomic development of the countries involved through funding of collaborative research projects of high scientific quality and mutual relevance.


Objectives:

  • To establish a basis for long-term research co-operation
  • To produce new knowledge and enhance understanding in fields of mutual concern and relevance
  • To promote research excellence and quality
  • To encourage the internationalisation of research institutions
  • To foster interdisciplinary and scientifically complementary research

The call for proposals opened March 6, 2009.
Closing application date is May 6 at 24:00 Swedish local time. (technical support closing at 16:00)
