EU’s commitment for the environment attracts attention in Bangkok

The EU is willing to go further than already far reaching commitments in the upcoming climate negotiations in Copenhagen.

During a press conference hosted to launch the EU Green Days, the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand, representing the Presidency of the EU, explained that the EU has committed to lower emissions by 20 per cent by 2020. This commitment could be enlarged to a 30 per cent reduction in the context of a global deal where other countries agree to far reaching commitments. During the 1-11 October the European Union and partners will be organising the EU Green Days which is a series of events to promote dialogue and awareness about climate change. The events coincides with the Bangkok pre-negotiations for the global climate change summit to be held in Copenhagen in December.
